The client had just returned from a number of years abroad with the house let to tenants and wanted more space and the house modernising. The existing house was not in tune with current requirements of a larger kitchen/family room or a master bedroom with en – suite facilities and we were approached to design an extension to a budget which overcame these issues but also sympathetic to the appearance of the house which was quite unique in the area.

After the initial sketch proposals it quickly became apparent that the brief and the budget were incompatible and so it was decided to retain the design and increase the budget.

The house has been transformed from its original layout and now affords modern living spaces but with an extension that looks as if it were always there.
